March Monthly Activity

RS 170th Bday Celebration!

This past Tuesday was our celebration of the 170th birthday of the Relief Society. We started the night out with dinner and of course some good old girl time (socializing!). Thanks to everyone who contributed to our dinner - it was delicious!

After dinner Kim Scarbrough taught us some fun facts about the Relief Society. We then heard from our special guest speaker - our General Relief Society President, Sister Julie Beck. She spoke about many things and placed a special emphasis on the new Daughters in My Kingdom book. You can view more info about this book, which Sister Beck referred to as a wonderful gift, by clicking here. After hearing from Sister Beck, we stood as a group of sisters and recited the Relief Society Declaration, a statement of faith and devotion that outlines our beliefs and our mission as women and Daughters of God. You can read a copy of the declaration by clicking here.

Thank you to everyone who contribued to and attended our birthday celebration.Thanks to you, the night turned out great!

Visiting Teaching Monthly Message

September 2012: Special Needs and Service Rendered

“The needs of others are ever present,” said President Thomas S. Monson, “and each of us can do something to help someone. … Unless we lose ourselves in service to others, there is little purpose to our own lives.”¹

How can we know the spiritual and temporal needs of our sisters so we can render service when it is needed? As visiting teachers, we are entitled to receive inspiration when we pray about those we visit.

Women of God:

1) “Sisters, this is a call to arms, it’s a call to action, a call to arise. A call to arm ourselves with power and with righteousness.
