AUGUST RS MEETING
Establishing a House of Order

Do you have a 'drop zone' in your house? Maybe a spot or even an entire room where unfinished items get sent and never seem to make it out alive?  I think a lot of us do.  And sometimes those items get completely forgotten, while at other times they sit and tickle the back of our mind, refusing to let us forget them.  What are we to do??  The answer is simple - come to the August RS Meeting!

On Tuesday, August 28th, we're having a 'Get it Done!' night. It'll be a very relaxed, laid back activity where you can bring any projects you have lying around that you've 'been meaning to get to'.  Bring anything you'd like!  Crafts from lasts year's Wonderful Wednesday, birthday cards you need to send out, half-finished blankets you'd actually like to use....anything goes! Come join your RS sisters as we all work towards the goal of establishing a House of Order.

Get excited for our June RS activity!

A few notes...
1. Yoga: Make sure you wear comfortable clothes and shoes that are easy to remove. Also, please bring a yoga mat, towel, or blanket to use during class.

2. Zumba: Again, be sure you're in comfy clothes, and be ready to move!

3. Cookie Decorating: Come ready to be amazed at the mad skills you never knew you had. Oh, and you might not want to wear your Sunday best, unless, of course, you're cleaner than the rest of us when it comes to anything food related.

4. Sprouting: If you're interested in this class, make sure you add yourself to the sign-up sheets at church.  And don't be intimidated - it's way easier than you may think!

Don't Forget!
We're putting together Hygiene Kits to donate to the Latimer House during our May RS activity. If you'd like to contribute items for our kits, please remember to bring them to church this Sunday and/or to the activity on Tuesday May 22.  We'd really love to create at least 50 Hygiene Kits, so spread the word!  Call your friends and those ladies you visit teach to see if they'd like to contribute as well.  Thanks!

Our activity for the month of April, Death by Chocolate, was focused around building a house of FAITH. We are taught that we should live by faith, not fear, and that if we are prepared, we don't need to fear.  For our activity we had three special guest panelists who led a wonderful group discussion on being prepared in regards to end-of-life planning and emergency planning.  The discussion included topics such as hospice care, advanced directives, wills, etc.  A packet was given out that included, among other things, a copy of the Colorado Advanced Medical Directive, Will, and Organ Donation Form.  If you're interested in having a copy of these documents, they're available online (click here). Thanks to everyone who attended the activity and joined in the discussion, and a special thanks to our fabulous panelists! We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and went away with the motivation to be a little more prepared in whatever way works for them.

March Monthly Activity
RS 170th Bday Celebration!

This past Tuesday was our celebration of the 170th birthday of the Relief Society.  We started the night out with dinner and of course some good old girl time (socializing!).  Thanks to everyone who contributed to our dinner - it was delicious!

After dinner Kim Scarbrough taught us some fun facts about the Relief Society. We then heard from our special guest speaker - our General Relief Society President, Sister Julie Beck.  If you weren't able to attend you can view her talk by clicking here (scroll to the bottom of the page). She spoke about many things and placed a special emphasis on the new Daughters in My Kingdom book.  You can view more info about this book, which Sister Beck referred to as a wonderful gift, by clicking here. (If you don't have a copy of it, please let the RS presidency know and they'll get you one.)

After hearing from Sister Beck, we stood as a group of sisters and recited the Relief Society Declaration, a statement of faith and devotion that outlines our beliefs and our mission as women and Daughters of God.  You can read a copy of the declaration by clicking here.

Thank you to everyone who contribued to and attended our birthday celebration. Thanks to you, the night turned out great!

February Relief Society Meeting
Establish A House of Fasting
Thank you to everyone who participated in our monthly Relief Society meeting! Together we enjoyed a brief talk on fasting, 3 mini hands-on classes, and lots of yummy treats and take-homes.
Class 1: Pancakes in a Bag
(A meal-in-a-bag is great for your personal food storage and as an easy meal for a friend in need)

Class 2: Meal Planning, Money-Saving Tips, & Getting Your Food Storage Started
(You can save a lot of 'dough' of you're prepared! And you don't have to be afraid of getting started - just take baby steps and do what works best for your family.)

Class 3: Compassionate Casseroles
(Compassionate Casseroles, or freezer meals, are nice to have on hand.  You can pull them out when you're in a bind (or just don't want to cook!), or when you have a friend in need of a meal.)
